My granddaughter is in the first grade at Pine City Elementary School. She has asthma, the school is aware of her heath condition. She had an asthma attack, coughed through the night, had a difficult time sleeping on a school night. As a result she fell asleep in class the following day. Instead of being treated in a gentle manner, sending her to the nurses office to be certain she was all right, Her Teacher Sent Her To The Principals Office! She is a good girl, a good student, a sensitive child who has loved school, has always done her homework, and has never been sent to the principals office since she began preschool there three years ago. Instead of being Cared About, Cared For, she was treated like a criminal, embarrassed in front of her entire class of schoolmates, taken to the principals office and punished because she had a difficult time sleeping due to her asthma the night before. She is traumatized and devastated by being punished instead of anyone caring about her and making sure she was feeling all right.
